Clergy / Rabbi

Some people know they have a calling early.  For others, the realization comes more slowly over time.  Sometimes, Challenge Factory clients have no intention of becoming clergy, but have always wondered what life must be like for those with this vocation.

Originally from Worcester, Massachusetts, Rabbi Thomashow earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology at Brandeis University. She was ordained at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she also wrote her thesis entitled A Lily and an Apple: a history of Jewish interpretation to the Song of Songs.

During her tenure at HUC-JIR, Rabbi Thomashow served as student rabbi of Congregation B’nai Israel in Victoria, Texas and Congregation Beth El in Saginaw, Michigan. Additionally, she served as rabbinic intern of Isaac M. Wise Temple in Cincinnati.

Today Rabbi Thomashow serves as Associate Rabbi of Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto, Ontario. Among other professional affiliations, she serves on the board of directors of ARZA Canada, the Canadian arm of the Reform Zionist Association, and is currently the Canadian regional representative to the Board of Directors of the WRN, or Women's Rabbinic Network, which is a subsidiary of the Central Conference of American Rabbis.
