Lucie Shaw, along with her husband David, own and operate Nurse Next Door in Mississauga. The idea to start a business came to them during the time that they were looking for someone to take care of David's aging parents. When exploring various options, they came across BC-based Nurse Next Door Home Healthcare and after digging a little deeper; they realized the company was a perfect fit with their values. They were looking for an opportunity where they could give back to the community by supporting aging parents in their own homes, hospitals or retirement homes.

At Nurse Next Door, they are able to care for loved ones with care levels ranging from Companionship or Personal Support right up to Nursing, including end-of-life care. Lucie and David's goal is to provide peace of mind by making lives better, one visit at a time!

As an expert in home healthcare, Lucie is in the unique position to guide you through a “day-in-the-life” experience in this growing and vital industry. You can expect to be exposed to many, or all of the following daily activities which Lucie is involved in in order to take care of her clients and her business:

• Early morning staff meeting to set day’s priorities
• Hospital and doctor’s visits to establish care needs and communicate with other care givers
• Family and clients visits in the home
• Sales and marketing activities in order to grow the business
• Administrative duties
