Programs for Veterans and Hiring Organizations
Supporting Veterans by Supporting Employers
We believe that Veterans are a hidden talent pool that smart employers should know more about. Companies in all sectors are anticipating and experiencing skilled labour and leadership talent pipeline gaps - with too few internal candidates for critical positions and a highly competitive external recruiting marketplace. Companies need to find new sources of key talent.
We believe that research-backed programs that focus on what Veterans need to know about civilian work environments, matched with programs to educate employers on how to capitalize on a Veteran hiring program for significant business, cultural and market gain is a strong complement to the public services available. We believe it so passionately we invested in doing the research.
We know that there are five drivers shaping the future of work. Understanding key demographic shifts is the first and most immediate driver. Smart organizations will challenge outdated career assumptions and look to capitalize on hidden talent pools. We're here to help every step of the way.
Challenge Factory has been a leading figure in shedding light on biases Canadian Veterans face while transitioning out of the Military and into the civilian workforce.
We have worked directly with currently serving members and Veterans to ensure we understand how their working style, behaviour, motivators, leadership acumen and competencies translate to civilian labour needs. We've quantified the unfounded beliefs Canadian employers have about Veterans as workers and developed blended cohort transition programs that bring transitioning civilian executives together with Veterans as peers.
Current Research Project:
In 2019-2020, with the support of Veterans Affairs Canada's Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund, we are focusing our efforts to facilitate greater Veteran hiring success in Ontario's small- and medium-sized business sector.

Career transformation courses for Veterans
Challenge Factory has created a learning path specifically designed for releasing military members and Veterans. The first course in the learning path focuses on implications of the research study as a foundation for understanding civilian recruitment. Additional courses include a civilian leadership assessment and comprehensive career exploration program. Before you write a resume, learn what jobs are available, identify which are within your "Sweetspot" and develop a civilian support network.
